GNNradio is a ministry of The Good News Network. GNNradio is comprised of 12 radio stations and 13 radio translators/repeaters that extend throughout the southeast, covering communities in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and now, Alabama and Mississippi.
The Good News Network began in 1984, as the Augusta Radio Fellowship Institute, when President and founder, Clarence Barinowski acquired a construction permit to begin broadcasting on 91.7FM, WLPE. From its inception it has been a ministry, and the ministry was given non-profit status by the IRS as a
501c(3) organization (click this blue link for a copy of this form and our E.I.D number). This was the first full-time Christian station in the Augusta, Georgia market. Immediately, people from the community responded positively with letters and financial support for this non-profit ministry.
As the support increased, the vision grew to place radio stations in communities where no other Christian stations existed; so The Good News Network began to emerge with the acquisition of stations in Jesup, Vidalia and Byron, Georgia and Florence, South Carolina. A group of Christians in Morehead City, North Carolina had a Federal license to build a station in Harkers Island, and after the progress stalled, they transferred the license to the Good News Network, by far the network's most powerful signal. Our most recent station, WSJA 91.3FM is in York, Alabama, but reaches into Meridian Mississippi.
The primary focus of GNNradio is to provide quality teaching and preaching that will help make disciples. The mission of the network is taken from II Timothy 4:2-4, and we have a commitment to sound doctrine, with the intention of all our broadcasts to direct listeners to the Lord. In addition to the quality teaching, GNNradio plays inspirational music from such favorites as Steve Green, Michael Card, The National Christian Choir, and John G. Elliot, to mention a few.
